Description
Brilliant Green Agar is a selective differential medium for isolating Salmonella species other than Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi.
Brilliant green inhibits many competing organisms, while lactose, sucrose and phenol red create differential colony and medium-colour reactions.
Clinical, food or environmental material is streaked onto the prepared agar and incubated at 35 ± 2°C for approximately 18–24 hours before presumptive colonies are selected for confirmation.
