Microbiology testing for beverage producers.
Spoilage in beverages shows up fast — and expensively, after product has shipped. We supply the media and rapid assays that catch yeasts, moulds and process-water contamination before it reaches a filler line.

Your testing reality
Beverage quality teams manage a narrower risk profile than food manufacturing, but a less forgiving one. Spoilage organisms — yeasts, moulds and Pseudomonas — don't need to be pathogenic to end a product line; a single contaminated batch reaching retail is a recall and a customer relationship at risk.
Process water sits at the centre of that risk. Water enters the product directly and indirectly through rinsing, cooling and CIP (clean-in-place) cycles, so verifying water quality at every stage is inseparable from verifying the product itself.
Shelf-life claims add a second layer: incubation studies and preservative-efficacy testing need methods sensitive enough to catch low-level spoilage organisms that traditional plate counts can miss until it's too late to correct.
- Spoilage before pathogens
Yeasts, moulds and Pseudomonas rarely make anyone ill — but they end a shelf-life claim and a customer's confidence.
- Fast-moving lines
High-volume bottling and filling leaves little room for slow confirmation — screening has to keep pace with the line.
- Water at every stage
Process water, rinse water and CIP verification all carry their own testing obligation, tracked separately from the product.
What to test for
The core panel for beverage and bottling — spoilage organisms plus the indicators that flag a water or hygiene failure early.
- Escherichia colipathogen
- Pseudomonaspathogen
- Legionellapathogen
- Salmonellapathogen
- Yeast and Mouldindicator
- Total Microbial Countindicator
- Coliformindicator
- Enterobacteriaceaeindicator
Methods for your operation
Screening throughput and confirmation sensitivity both matter here — most lines run a layered approach.
- Traditional · ISOFor shelf-life studies
Reference plate methods for preservative-efficacy and incubation studies, where a slow, well-characterised result is what a shelf-life claim needs.
- RapidFor line-speed screening
Ready-to-use plates and ATP-based hygiene checks that keep pace with high-volume filling and bottling schedules.
- Molecular · PCRFor low-level detection
PCR-based detection for spoilage organisms below the sensitivity of traditional plate counts, before they show up as a customer complaint.
