Description
CLED Agar is a differential medium for isolating, enumerating and differentiating urinary pathogens.
Lactose fermentation changes bromothymol blue from green to yellow, L-cystine supports cystine-dependent organisms and the electrolyte-deficient formulation suppresses Proteus swarming.
Undiluted urine is streaked with a calibrated loop and incubated aerobically at 35 ± 2°C for 18–48 hours. Colonies are counted and evaluated by colour and morphology before confirmatory identification.
