Description
Lowenstein–Jensen Medium is an egg-based selective medium for isolating and cultivating mycobacteria.
The dehydrated base is completed with glycerol and fresh homogenised eggs. Malachite green restricts contaminating flora, while the egg components and nutrients support slow-growing mycobacteria.
Processed clinical material is inoculated onto the prepared slopes and incubated under the conditions specified in the PDF, with cultures examined periodically for up to several weeks.
