Description
MR-VP Broth is a differential medium for performing the methyl-red and Voges–Proskauer tests on coliform bacteria.
The methyl-red reaction demonstrates stable mixed-acid fermentation, while the Voges–Proskauer reaction detects acetoin production. These complementary reactions support differentiation within the coliform group.
A pure culture is inoculated and incubated at 36 ± 1°C for approximately 48 hours. Separate portions are then tested with the appropriate reagents and interpreted according to the colour reactions described in the PDF.
