Description

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is a general-purpose enrichment medium for pharmaceutical sterility testing and cultivation of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.

Thioglycollate and cystine reduce oxygen, resazurin indicates oxidation and the low agar concentration limits oxygen diffusion, creating zones suitable for anaerobic, microaerophilic and aerobic growth.

The medium is used in pharmacopoeial sterility testing and for Clostridium perfringens work. Growth is assessed by turbidity at the incubation temperature specified by the applicable method.
