MRS-IM Agar with Maltose is a selective medium for isolating and enumerating probiotic lactic acid bacteria.
The MRS nutrient system supports lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, maltose serves as the fermentable carbohydrate and the stated selective supplement limits competing organisms.
Prepared plates are inoculated using the procedure described in the PDF and incubated under atmospheric and temperature conditions appropriate for the organism being examined.
