Description
Yeast Glucose Chloramphenicol Agar is a selective medium for isolating and enumerating yeasts and moulds in food, beverages, milk and milk products.
Yeast extract and glucose support fungal growth, while chloramphenicol inhibits accompanying bacterial flora and improves recovery of injured fungal cells.
Samples and dilutions are inoculated by pour plating, spread plating or membrane filtration and incubated aerobically at 25 ± 2°C for up to five days before yeast and mould colonies are counted.
