Description
Orange Serum Agar is a cultivation and enumeration medium for acid-tolerant microorganisms associated with spoilage of citrus products.
Orange extract lowers the pH, while yeast extract, casein digest and glucose provide nutrients for lactic-acid bacteria, acetic-acid bacteria, yeasts and moulds.
Samples are inoculated onto the prepared agar and incubated under the conditions appropriate to the spoilage organisms being examined. Colonies are counted or selected for further identification.
