Description

Giolitti-Cantoni Broth Base is a selective enrichment medium for Staphylococcus aureus in foods.

Potassium tellurite completes the medium and provides a blackening reaction in positive tubes. A paraffin overlay establishes the reduced conditions described in the procedure.

The PDF specifies incubation at 36 ± 1°C for 40–48 hours and subculture of blackened tubes to Baird Parker Agar, according to ISO 6888-3:2003.
