Description

Potato Dextrose Agar is a cultivation and enumeration medium for yeasts and moulds.

Potato infusion and dextrose support luxuriant fungal growth, sporulation and pigment production. The medium may be acidified to restrict bacterial growth during fungal counting.

Samples or cultures are inoculated onto the prepared medium and incubated under the fungal-counting conditions specified by the applicable food or pharmacopoeial procedure.
