Description
CLED Andrade Agar is a differential medium for isolating and performing total bacterial counts of urinary pathogens.
Lactose fermentation changes the bromothymol-blue and Andrade indicator system, while the electrolyte-deficient formulation suppresses Proteus swarming and improves colony differentiation.
Undiluted urine is inoculated with a calibrated loop and incubated at 35 ± 2°C for 18–24 hours. Colonies are counted and their colour and morphology are used for presumptive identification.
