Description
Legionella CYE Agar Base is a charcoal yeast-extract base used to prepare complete and cysteine-deficient media for Legionella cultivation and confirmation.
Yeast extract supplies nutrients and activated charcoal neutralises inhibitory substances. The appropriate growth supplement is added either with or without L-cysteine to create the paired media required for confirmation.
Presumptive isolates are subcultured to both preparations. Growth on complete medium combined with failure to grow without L-cysteine supports identification within the ISO 11731 workflow.
