Description
MRS Broth without Glucose is a basal enrichment medium for cultivating Lactobacillus species with a user-selected carbohydrate.
Peptones and beef extract supply nutrients, while ammonium citrate and sodium acetate restrict many competing organisms. Polysorbate 80 supports nutrient uptake by lactobacilli.
The required carbohydrate is added to the basal broth before sterilisation or final preparation. The completed medium is inoculated and incubated under conditions suitable for the Lactobacillus strain being examined.
