Description
Selenite Cystine Broth is a selective enrichment medium for detecting Salmonella in food, dairy products, water and other sanitary samples.
Sodium selenite inhibits many competing Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, while L-cystine creates reducing conditions that enhance Salmonella recovery.
A buffered pre-enrichment culture is transferred to the broth at the ratio specified by ISO 6785 and incubated at 37°C for 18–24 hours before subculture to selective isolation media.
