Amies Transport Medium with Charcoal is a semi-solid medium for collecting, transporting and preserving microbiological specimens.
The formulation is designed to maintain microorganism viability without significant multiplication. Charcoal adsorbs toxic substances and helps reduce oxygen tension, while sodium thioglycollate supports a reduced environment.
The medium is intended for swab specimens that will be transported and subsequently inoculated onto suitable culture media.
