Description
Dermatophyte DTM Agar is a selective differential medium for isolating dermatophytes from clinical specimens.
Selective agents inhibit many bacteria and saprophytic fungi. Dermatophyte growth produces alkaline metabolites that change the indicator from yellow-orange to red or red-violet.
Skin, nail or hair material is inoculated and incubated at approximately 22–30°C for up to seven days. Colour change must be interpreted together with colony morphology and microscopic examination.
