Description
m-FC Broth Base is a selective membrane-filtration medium for isolation and enumeration of faecal coliforms in water.
Bile salts and elevated incubation temperature provide selectivity, lactose supports differentiation and aniline blue produces blue target colonies. Rosolic-acid supplement further restricts non-faecal organisms.
Duplicate membranes are incubated at 44.5 ± 0.5°C and 36 ± 1°C for approximately 24 hours. Faecal coliform colonies appear in shades of blue.
