Description
Malt Extract Agar is a nutrient medium for isolating, cultivating and enumerating yeasts and moulds.
Malt extract supplies carbohydrates, vitamins and growth factors, while peptone contributes nitrogenous nutrients. The acidic formulation supports fungal recovery and limits many accompanying bacteria.
Samples or dilutions are inoculated and incubated under the conditions stated in the PDF. Characteristic fungal colonies are examined or counted after incubation.
