Description
Lauryl Pepto Broth is a selective presumptive medium for detecting and enumerating coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli.
Sodium lauryl sulfate inhibits much of the accompanying Gram-positive flora without suppressing coliforms. Lactose-fermenting organisms produce gas that is collected in Durham tubes.
The PDF describes most-probable-number procedures and confirmation of positive tubes according to the relevant food, water or sewage workflow. It cites ISO 4831, ISO 7251, FDA-BAM and APHA methods.
