Amies Transport Medium without Charcoal is a semi-solid, non-nutritive medium for collecting, transporting and preserving microbiological specimens.
The formulation is designed to maintain microorganism viability without significant multiplication during transport. Sodium thioglycollate and the low agar concentration create a reduced environment, while phosphates provide buffering.
Swab specimens are transported cool and transferred to suitable culture media as soon as possible, with the PDF indicating transport within 24 hours.
