Description
DNase Test Agar is a differential culture medium for demonstrating deoxyribonuclease activity in microorganisms.
The test organism is spot-inoculated to produce a dense area of growth. After incubation, the plate is flooded with hydrochloric acid; a clear zone around the growth indicates DNase activity.
The PDF specifies incubation at 36 ± 1°C for 18–48 hours and lists Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus pyogenes as quality-control organisms.
