Middlebrook 7H11 Agar Base is a selective solid medium for primary isolation, cultivation and susceptibility testing of mycobacteria.
Malachite green inhibits contaminating flora, while the nutrient base is completed with glycerol and OADC supplement to supply energy, protective albumin, oleic acid and catalase.
Processed specimens are inoculated and incubated at 35 ± 2°C in a carbon-dioxide-enriched atmosphere for up to eight weeks, with cultures examined periodically for growth and colony morphology.
