Description
Muller Kauffmann Tetrathionate Broth Base is a selective enrichment medium for detecting Salmonella species in food, animal feed and environmental samples.
Iodine converts thiosulfate to tetrathionate, while bile and brilliant green suppress much of the competing flora. Novobiocin supplement further increases selectivity.
A pre-enrichment culture is transferred to the completed broth, incubated according to ISO 6579-1 and subsequently streaked onto suitable selective isolation agars.
