Description
Lysine Decarboxylase Broth is a differential liquid medium for detecting lysine decarboxylation by Enterobacteriaceae.
Glucose fermentation initially acidifies the broth and turns the indicator yellow. Organisms producing lysine decarboxylase subsequently form alkaline products and restore a violet colour, while negative cultures remain yellow.
A pure culture is inoculated into the test broth and a control broth, overlaid as specified and incubated before the colour reactions are compared.
