Description
Pseudomonas Agar P is a differential medium for isolating Pseudomonas species and demonstrating pyocyanin production by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Magnesium chloride, potassium sulfate and glycerol promote formation of the blue-green pyocyanin pigment that diffuses into the surrounding agar.
Clinical or non-clinical material is inoculated onto the completed medium and incubated according to the IFU. Pigmented colonies are presumptive and require biochemical, immunological or molecular confirmation.
