Description
Bromocresol Purple Azide Broth is a selective confirmation medium for enterococci recovered during water examination.
Sodium azide suppresses competing Gram-negative organisms, while glucose fermentation changes the bromocresol-purple indicator from purple to yellow. The broth is inoculated from presumptive positive cultures and incubated at 36 ± 1°C for up to 48 hours.
A yellow colour reaction supports confirmation of glucose-fermenting enterococci in the stated workflow. The PDF does not provide a numbered formal method reference.
