Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Solution pH 7.0 is an isotonic buffered diluent for dissolving, suspending and diluting pharmaceutical and cosmetic test samples.
Phosphate buffers maintain pH, sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance and a low peptone level preserves organism viability without supporting significant multiplication.
Samples are typically prepared as a 1-in-10 dilution and transferred to the required recovery or enumeration medium. Neutralisers may be added when antimicrobial residues are present.
