Description
PE-2 Broth is a medium for detecting and cultivating mesophilic anaerobic spore-formers from food-processing environments.
Peptone and yeast extract support clostridial growth, while bromocresol purple provides the pH indication described in the PDF. The medium is particularly associated with Clostridium species involved in low-acid food spoilage.
Samples are inoculated, overlaid with a small quantity of mineral oil and incubated at 30–35°C for approximately 72 hours, with longer incubation where slowly germinating spores are expected.
