Description
Modified Tryptone Soya Broth is a selective enrichment medium for recovering Escherichia coli O157 from food and faecal samples.
The nutrient base supports recovery of stressed organisms, while bile salts inhibit much of the accompanying Gram-positive flora. The optional VCC supplement further increases selectivity.
Samples are inoculated into the prepared broth and incubated at 36 ± 1°C for approximately 24 hours. Turbidity indicates growth before subculture to an appropriate selective isolation medium.
