Description
Motility Nitrate CP Medium is a semi-solid confirmation medium for differentiating Clostridium perfringens by motility and nitrate reduction.
The low agar concentration reveals motility through diffuse growth, while potassium nitrate permits detection of nitrate reduction after addition of the specified reagents. A red reaction indicates nitrite formation.
A pure presumptive culture is stab-inoculated and incubated anaerobically at 35 ± 2°C for approximately 18–24 hours before motility and nitrate reactions are interpreted.
