Description
Dextrose Tryptone Broth is a liquid medium for detecting and cultivating organisms responsible for spoilage in low- and medium-acid canned foods.
Tryptone supplies nutrients, dextrose is fermented and bromocresol purple changes from purple to yellow when acid is produced.
Duplicate cultures are incubated at approximately 35°C and 55°C to recover mesophilic and thermophilic organisms. Positive tubes are recognised by growth and yellow acid reaction before subculture.
