Description
Bismuth Sulphite Agar ISO 6579-1 is a highly selective medium for isolating Salmonella species, especially Salmonella Typhi.
Bismuth sulfite and brilliant green inhibit competing flora, while ferrous sulfate demonstrates hydrogen-sulfide production through dark colony reactions.
The medium is used after pre-enrichment and selective enrichment in the multistage ISO 6579-1 Salmonella detection workflow.
