Description
Glucose OF Medium ISO 21528 is a semisolid medium for differentiating oxidative and fermentative glucose metabolism in Gram-negative bacteria.
Glucose is the test carbohydrate, bromothymol blue indicates acid production and the semisolid formulation supports comparison of open and oil-covered tubes.
Pure cultures are stab-inoculated into paired tubes, with one tube overlaid with mineral oil. Yellow throughout the oil-covered tube indicates fermentation; the ISO workflow uses glucose-positive, oxidase-negative reactions to confirm Enterobacteriaceae.
