Description
Brilliant Green Agar with Sulfapyridine is a selective medium for isolating Salmonella species from food and animal-feed samples.
Brilliant green and sulfapyridine provide the selectivity described in the PDF, while lactose, sucrose and phenol red support differentiation through characteristic colony and medium colour reactions.
Following the stated enrichment procedure, plates are incubated at 35 ± 2°C for approximately 18–24 hours and examined for presumptive Salmonella colonies. The PDF notes that Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi may not be recovered.
