Description
VRE Agar Base is a selective and differential medium for detecting vancomycin-resistant enterococci. Ox bile and sodium azide inhibit much of the accompanying flora, while aesculin hydrolysis reacts with ferric ions to produce dark colonies or halos. Vancomycin and meropenem supplements complete the selective formulation.
