Description
Chromatic Vibrio is a selective chromogenic medium for detecting enteropathogenic Vibrio species in clinical, food, water and environmental samples.
High salt and alkaline pH promote Vibrio recovery while inhibiting Gram-positive bacteria and coliforms. Chromogenic substrates differentiate Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio vulnificus, Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio alginolyticus by colony colour.
Samples are streaked or spread-plated and incubated aerobically at 35 ± 2°C for 18–24 hours. Characteristic colonies are confirmed biochemically.
