Description
Tryptose is a peptone ingredient produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of meat, yeast and casein.
It supplies nutrients for fastidious microorganisms and is recommended in blood-containing media used to demonstrate haemolysis and in media used for indole testing.
The powder is dissolved in distilled or deionised water and incorporated into the selected culture-medium formulation before autoclave sterilisation.
