Description
Sierra Lipolytic Agar is a differential medium for isolating bacteria and other microorganisms according to lipase activity.
The completed medium contains Tween 80 as the lipid substrate. Lipase-positive colonies produce a surrounding white precipitate, allowing the enzymatic reaction to be recognised directly on the agar.
The specimen is streaked onto the prepared surface and incubated at 36 ± 1°C for 24–48 hours. Colonies with a white precipitation halo are interpreted as lipolytic.
