Description
Yeast Extract Agar is a nutrient medium for determining total microbial counts in water and other materials of sanitary importance.
Casein digest and yeast extract provide amino acids, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals, while agar creates the colony-counting surface.
Two plate sets are inoculated by pour plating or membrane filtration. One set is incubated at 36 ± 2°C for 40–48 hours and the other at 22 ± 2°C for 64–72 hours before colonies are counted.
