Description
Sabouraud CAF 1 g/L Agar is a selective medium for isolating yeasts and moulds from clinical specimens.
Peptomycol supplies nitrogenous nutrients, the high glucose concentration and acidic pH favour fungi, and chloramphenicol suppresses bacterial contamination.
The specimen is streaked over the agar and incubated at 30 ± 2°C for 18–48 hours. Fungal colonies are examined by their growth and morphology.
