Description
Staphylococcus 110 Agar is a selective differential medium for isolating and characterising staphylococci.
The high salt concentration provides selectivity. Mannitol fermentation, pigment production and gelatinase activity are evaluated through yellow colour development, colony pigmentation and clearing after ammonium-sulfate treatment.
Sample dilutions are spread on the agar and incubated at 36 ± 1°C for 18–48 hours. Pigment, gelatinase and mannitol reactions are interpreted together.
