Description
Chromatic CRE is a chromogenic selective medium for isolating carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae from clinical specimens.
The chromogenic substrates differentiate groups including Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter, Serratia, Escherichia coli and Citrobacter through the colony colours described in the PDF. A selective supplement inhibits non-Enterobacteriaceae and organisms susceptible to carbapenems.
Inoculated plates are incubated under the conditions specified in the technical sheet, after which presumptive resistant colonies are identified by their characteristic appearance and confirmed by appropriate susceptibility or identification procedures.
