Description
Sucrose is a purified fermentable carbohydrate for bacteriological media and biochemical differentiation.
It provides a readily available energy source and supports interpretation of sucrose-fermentation reactions. The PDF gives Klebsiella pneumoniae as a positive example and Salmonella Typhimurium as a negative example.
The powder is dissolved in distilled or deionised water, incorporated into the selected culture-medium formulation and sterilised by autoclaving.
