Description
Streptococcus Broth is a selective enrichment medium for recovering streptococci from specimens containing mixed flora.
Peptones, glucose and mineral salts support growth. Sodium azide inhibits Gram-negative rods and crystal violet primarily suppresses staphylococci.
The specimen is inoculated directly into the broth and incubated aerobically at 36 ± 1°C for 18–24 hours. Growth is then subcultured to an appropriate solid medium.
