Description

Egg Yolk Tellurite Emulsion is a liquid supplement for preparing Baird Parker Agar used to isolate and enumerate coagulase-positive staphylococci.

Egg-yolk lecithinase activity produces clear zones around colonies, while reduction of potassium tellurite causes blackening of coagulase-positive colonies.

The PDF specifies addition of 50 mL to one litre of Baird Parker Agar Base and links the completed medium to ISO 6888 Parts 1 and 3.
