Description
Ziehl–Neelsen Color Kit is a three-reagent staining kit for acid-fast bacteria in pathological samples and culture media.
Carbol fuchsin stains acid-fast organisms red, acid-alcohol removes stain from non-acid-fast material and methylene blue counterstains the background.
The kit contains 250 mL each of fuchsin solution, acid-alcohol solution and methylene-blue solution. Stained smears are examined microscopically for mycobacteria.
