Description
Potassium Tellurite 3.5% Supplement is a selective supplement for Vogel–Johnson Agar, Giolitti–Cantoni Broth and other media used for staphylococci.
Staphylococci reduce potassium tellurite to tellurium and produce grey-black colonies. The concentration added depends on the compatible base medium and sample application.
For Vogel–Johnson Agar, the PDF specifies adding 2.9 mL to 500 mL of cooled medium. Prepared media are then used according to their associated technical sheets.
