Description
Albert Color Kit is a differential staining kit for demonstrating diphtheria corynebacteria in clinical specimens or cultured material.
Toluidine blue and malachite green stain the bacterial cell and its metachromatic volutin granules, while Lugol solution fixes and intensifies the reaction. Corynebacterial cytoplasm appears green and the granules appear dark blue to black.
The kit contains two 250 mL reagents. Prepared smears are stained according to the Albert procedure and examined microscopically for the characteristic morphology and granules.
