Description
Iodine Solution is a supplement used to prepare Tetrathionate Broth Base for selective Salmonella enrichment.
Addition of iodine forms tetrathionate in the completed medium, inhibiting much of the contaminating flora that lacks tetrathionate reductase and enhancing Salmonella recovery.
One 10 mL vial is added to 490 mL of cooled base medium, and the completed broth should be inoculated within two hours.
